IBEW and CWA bargaining committees have been at the table with Verizon management since May 27. Union leaders have raised all the major issues concerning our jobs at Verizon. But management still hasn’t got the message about the importance of reaching a new agreement that meets our needs. Read the full story.

NY tech addresses CWA convention about Verizon Business
 
VZB tech Roger Reece of Hillburn, NY (at left) spoke passionately to CWA convention delegates about their campaign to form a union. He described one act of management intimidation this way: “I asked my manager when he thought we would be allowed to vote for a union. He hauled me into his office and gave me a verbal warning that if I even mentioned the word ‘union’ I would be subject to ‘strong disciplinary action’, which included possible ‘dismissal.’ I was stunned!” Read the full story.

 


 


Solidarity rallies July 26 in NYC and July 31 in Boston
 
Two huge rallies of members and retirees from throughout VZ-East are planned. We’ll see you there!

  • Saturday, July 26, 1:00 PM at Verizon’s West St. headquarters in Manhattan. (Contact your local for information on transportation on New York City.)
  • Thursday, July 31, 6:00 PM at 185 Franklin St. in Boston.

We all know by now that Verizon has taken the gloves off. Across the District, our mobilization activities seem to have struck a nerve with local management. We're planning a wide-range of activities in the near future to fight back. Read the full story.

 


 

Just Practicing . . . For Now
Just before the Mid-Atlantic bargaining committee met with the company, over 150 members from CWA Districts 1, 2, and 13 along with IBEW Locals 1944 and 827 participated in a rally outside of CWA headquarters to show their support for the committee. CWA Secretary-Treasurer Jeff Rechenbach spoke at the rally. Read the full story.
